LAWINES is a multidiciplinary dance film, supported by new music from artist Puntjudith's EP of the same name, about a young woman trying to escape captivity while being haunted by bewildering dreams; the new world she finds herself in might not be what she desires.
ESCAPING
In the short film LAWINES we find Judith, a young woman, locked in a room. She longs for contact with others and control over her life. Guided by her feverish dreams, she is able to free herself from isolation. Driven by her urge to connect, Judith wanders through her new dystopian surroundings, in which she seems to find what she desires. Within this multi-disciplinary short film, dance and music amplify a narrative of longing for and fleeing to another world. However, Judith's newfound happiness and control could be vain after all.
The imagery combined with the layered pop music tells a cycle of longing and wanting to escape again, based on the dormant emotions of the film creators. The film is a large and unique collaborative project made by a multidisciplinary team with creators from the fashion, dance, film and music industries.
