The First Thousand Days
The first thousand days of a human life begin long before a child is conceived. During this period, the health and wellbeing of parents already influence their child’s development. So a healthy start with equal opportunities begins earlier than you might think.
That is why we want to raise awareness of the importance of those first thousand days. Every child deserves the chance to grow up healthy and safe, and every parent deserves to feel seen, heard and supported. Yet not every family starts from the same situation, and vulnerability is not always visible. Safety and trust help us understand what someone truly needs.
Parents as Experts
So we ask: what if we saw parents not as our target group, but as our most important experts? Because every parent has valuable knowledge to share, and their experiences offer essential insights.
In The First Thousand Days, you become the expert on your own life. During Dutch Design Week, we will fill a thousand tin cans with stories, life lessons, hopes and doubts. Share your experience, discover someone else’s and exchange insights in an installation filled with practical tips, quiet hopes and wisdom about growing up.
Because sometimes, a little perspective can make all the difference.
