Bent / Untitled

A material exploration of wood and glass through design

Bent / Untitled are two ongoing collections in which wood and glass are challenged to discover new possibilities. By approaching each material beyond its conventional use, a personal interpretation of the medium develops.

Exploring new possibilities in the use of veneer

Bent is a collection of chairs made from veneer. The works explore new techniques within established crafts. Each chair is created from a single continuous piece of veneer that moves through itself. This process develops a unique visual language and creates new, undiscovered forms within the material and technique.

Glass beyond its conventional application

Untitled is a glass collection that questions the traditional approach to working with glass. Often seen as a fragile material surrounded by caution and limitations, this collection explores a more direct and unconventional relationship with the material.
The works consist of hundreds of individual components that can be slid in and out of each other. These create compositions between design, sculpture, and research. Within the collection, glass is not only used as a carrier of form and aesthetics, but also as a means to explore the boundaries and techniques of the material itself.

About Lou Bolinger

Exploring new techniques is central to Lou Bolinger’s practice. His work exists between art and design. Through an open-minded approach and an unconventional use of material, form, and function, new objects emerge. By experimenting with what is not yet discovered within craft, he creates unexpected forms with a distinct signature. His work reflects a deep appreciation and dedication to understanding the materials he uses.
